I've got a 2003 Xr650r and have been told to change my oil every 1000km's.This seems a bit too often for me as i never did that for my Xr400r and that lasted 60,000 kms before the cams started to wear.I will only be riding the bike on the road and what i'm not sure about, is it true you have to change the engine oil every 1000km's.Could also be not enough fuel causing a lean pop, ignition timing not set correctly, faulty sparkplug, lack of valve clearances or blocked jets in the carbs. turning over and backfiring and the problems seemed to be a flooded engine.
